I was talking with my second oldest son Charlie the other day and I asked him for some advice on how to keep doing one of the workout routines that we like to do together. I call it the 5×5. It is 5 sets of differing strength training exercises that I started doing earlier this year to get in shape. When Charlie came here for summer break I encouraged him to do the same. He took right to it. Now, we’re trying to be workout buddies online by sending each other e-mails of our progress. My idea. So far, it’s pretty much a one way affair, so we’ll see how long it lasts.

Unlike running, which I look forward to, strength training is not my forte. My friend Eric, a power weight lifter, puts the rigors of strength training like this, “Well, it’s hard and it’s boring, not a great combo.” So the following excerpt was from my IM convo with Charlie.

Be warned: In case you couldn't tell from the url, this isn't a PG Site or a 'cute daddy blog' - you'll find lots of expletives and general silliness here, along with nicer, friendlier stuff. You could say this is an outlet for having to hold my tongue around the little ones all day. ;-)
