That’s the spirit

Last night Shannon turned me on to a site I hadn’t been to before. It’s called Violent Acres. I read every post. This is great writing, style, and content.

There’s a post about the-deadbeat-dad-myth that deserved some time here on CuteLittleBastards. Why do I like the post? Because she calls our society on our bullshit in a way that makes me feel, well - cleansed. She manages to do that with every post. Try her out, see if you like it.

Here’s an excerpt:

“I know a family where the Mother filed for child support, but only asked for a very small amount. She was making good money on her own and didn’t really need much. The judge chastised her for asking for so little and insisted that she didn’t have a right to decide how much money she received. This was her child’s money, not hers, and how dare she try to cheat her own child? She responded that she had worked out an arrangement with her Ex where he’d be taking care of their son during certain week nights while she went to school. She wanted to make absolutely sure that her Ex had enough money to make his home just as comfortable as hers since their son would be spending so much time there. The judge repeated the same tired mantra about it being her child’s money and awarded her 5 times what she was asking based on some arbitrary formula in a notebook. In the end, she cashes her check every week and gives the majority back to her Ex. No one cares, not even the judge who chastised her so harshly, because it wasn’t really about what was best for the child in the first place. The State just wanted a bigger 2% cut.”

p.s. She’s a bad, bad girl so don’t expect to enjoy it all the time. You get the good lumps with the bad.

After reading VA for a while I’m not so sure of her motives anymore. I think she likes it that way. What I really don’t like is that she’s writing to drive traffic and viewership, even when she says she’s not. I think she needs to fess up.

V is relatively good. Wait, I take that back. She’s spot on. The problem that everyone has is that no one takes an objective look at her writing. Everyone has issues with this or that and applies beliefs as such. The problem with the entire world is that right there. People are too self involved to think that people are entitled to their own opinions and just because someone believes something different, that automatically makes it bad. Want examples? Here we go. Racism is a great one. Oh, you have a different culture, you look different, you grew up differently than I did? I hate you. Let’s hang you, burn crosses in your yards, slaughter thousands of your people, destroy your land, confine you to smaller land, give you no subsidaries, etc. Get the point? People need to take a step back and think, “What can I do to make the world a little better today?” and do it. Instead of “You’re not christian/islam/mormon, you should become christian/islam/mormon, or else I will shun/kill/convert you, praise god/allah/god!”. Think I’m a Democrat? Fuck you. I don’t vote. Voting in this country sucks because democracy only works when no one has any money to tip the scales. Since Money runs the country, and the Republicans have money, Guess who wins? The only time anyone else gets a break is when the Republicans do something so bad it shakes the moral Christian fiber of the party (*cough*Iraq*cough*). Will we see Hillary as president? maybe. Will we be fucked? Yes.

Hi Derek. I think a lot of people take a look at her objectively because she has a huge following. The people that don’t, tune her out immediately or take it upon themselves to go on an anti-v quest. She’s popular because we have a gaping void in our world in people telling the truth. Your example of race is a great one. People of all races tell racial jokes with reasonable regularity but we don’t admit it. What we fail to do is have intelligent conversations about race that move us all forward. That’s why we need people like V and her opposites. It’s all a question of balance.

Be warned: In case you couldn't tell from the url, this isn't a PG Site or a 'cute daddy blog' - you'll find lots of expletives and general silliness here, along with nicer, friendlier stuff. You could say this is an outlet for having to hold my tongue around the little ones all day. ;-)
